Aug 01, 2012· I'm considering buying a used Dumore 44 tool post grinder. It has an Atlas branded belt guard - I'm wondering if these grinders were lathe specific or if this would work on a south bend heavy 9? Do these attach through the compound rest? If so it seems it would work on any lathe .

You have to have the proper way to load the jaws during grinding, but you end up with improved accuracy. Old newspaper is an ideal way cover while grinding.
